Rosters, and Clinics, and Emails, OH MY!

Sad for some, happy for others, summer is winding to a close. For most of us that’s great news because we are right around the corner from another hockey season! We have quite a few events up coming, so read on…

Rosters:

Team rosters are set for all three teams! We are super excited about our recent growth, and the fact that we are able to expand and include even more women in our organization. Welcome to all of the new players on all of the teams!

Thursday Skills and Drills Clinic:

Reminder that the Thursday skills and drills clinic starts tomorrow 8/4/11. Please make sure that you hand in your fall deposit before skating in the clinic. It’s three nights, and open to all three Fall Teams.

Take  a Shot Night:

On Monday Sept 12th at 9pm we are holding another take a shot night. The cost is free, so if you know anyone who is interested, get them to sign up! Also if you are able to voulenteer that night, please fill let me know below:

UWHL Info for next season.

The UWHL has announced the divisions, and game formats for next season. Discuss amongst yourselves!

RED Division [Bobcats, Freeze, Wings, Blades]
  • Red plays all White teams once= 10 games + all Red teams twice= 6 games for a total of 16 games.
  • Red games only count  and all 4 teams go to playoffs.

(Vote was 11-3 in favor of cross-division games)

White Division 

White North Teams- Wings, Ice Rockets, Senators, Queenston, Hawks
White South Teams- Americans, Freeze, Flames, White Lightning, Patriots

  • All White Teams play each other once (9 games)+ Red Teams once (4 games)= 13 games + 3 randomly selected White teams based on location for the additional game= 16 games.
  • All games count towards playoffs and the top 2 teams from each bracket move to playoffs.
  • All teams would have 8 home and 8 away games

(The vote was 11-3 to have cross-division games and 16-10 to have the brackets split by geographic location vs skill)

Blue Division [Americans, Demons, Predators, Black Widows, Hawks, Freeze]
  • All Blue teams play each other 3 times= 15 games + 1 game geographically based per match ups below= 16 games
  • All teams get 8 home and 8 away
  • All points count towards playoffs and top 4 teams go.

(The vote was 7-5 against having cross-divisional games)

Silver Division [Quarry Cats, Flames, Wings, Bobcats, Storm, Thrashers]
  • All Silver teams play each other 3 times= 15 games + 1 game geographically based per match ups below= 16 games
  • All teams get 8 home and 8 away games.
  • All points count towards playoffs and the top 4 teams go to playoffs.
  • (The vote was 7-5 against having cross-divisional games)

Practice is Canceled Tonight – SNOW

Don't Come Running to Practice Tonight!!

Practice and the Board meeting will be canceled tonight, Tuesday 1/11/11 due to the snow forecasted.

The rink is refunding us the ice time. The board meeting will be rescheduled for next week, same bat time, same bat channel. Please plan accordingly.

So stay warm inside, and do some burpees if you want a good workout!!

Busy Hawks Weekend!

The Hawks organization has a very busy weekend ahead!

This Saturday is the annual Philadelphia Dragon Boat Festival. The Hawks will be competing between 9am and 4pm on the Schuylkill River off of Kelly Drive in Philly. All are invited to check out the races, and cheer on the rowers who will be in tent #66.

Following the race, the White Team hosts the Philadelphia Freeze on home ice at 8:30pm (Rink 1). This is the second game of the season for the 1-0 White Team.

On Sunday the Red Team travels to it’s first away game in West Chester to face off against division rivals, The White Lightning.  Game time is at 3pm at Ice Line on Rink #4.

Congratulations to the White Team on their First Win!

Congrats to the White team, who kicked off their season this weekend with a win over the Ice Rockets.

The White team won their Home Opener this past Saturday 5-0, giving Judy McCauley her first shutout  of the season.

Goals were Scored by Dana Gansky(2), Donna Heckman, and Christine Mellon. Assists by Becky Buchanan, Nancy Mcguire, and Tammy Lindeman. Shots were: Hawks – 45 , Ice Rockets – 6.

Team Stats are now available on the site for both teams.

The White Hawks next Game is at Home on 10/23 at 8:30pm.

Reminder: Practices start tomorrow!

Just a reminder for all hawks that practices start tomorrow, Tuesday 9/14. Please be ready to be on the ice at our new start time of 8:45.

So pack up those hockey bags, do some wash (please!), and sharpen those skates!

Red and White Fall Schedules Announced

The UWHL has released the Schedules for both the Red and White Divisions for the 2010-2011 season.

These dates are currently for league games only. Now that we have our schedules set, we typically add in a few non-league games as well.

Also note that the entire organization’s events are always listed on the calendar page, and if you use google calendar, you can add them to your own calendar as well.

Fall Rosters Announced

Rosters for both the Red (D) and White (C) teams are up!

Congratulations to everyone! This should be a great season for both teams.
As soon as the league announces the schedule, it it will be sent to everyone. Practices
typically start in September, again as soon as we have the schedule it will be up on the
website.
